    TASK 1: Examining GUIDING PRINCIPLES of the CONSTITUTION-- RULE of LAW

   TASK 2: One partner must choose to examine Consent of the Governed and the other   
   should examine Separation of Powers. Once you have chosen, watch the correct video and 
   complete the sheet for your video. After you watch the videos, you AND your partner must 
   discuss the questions under TASK 2 to create answers that are high quality.

  
   TASK 3: Reading the CONSTITUTION... Start in class, complete for HW.


   HOMEWORK:
   1. Read the CONSTITUTION (either the student-friendly version OR the REAL THING).
   2. Complete the WORKSHEET. Explain what each article does briefly but clearl.
   BONUS- Find ONE news video LINK to a CONSTITUTIONALLY important current event. To
   turn it in, you must click on COMMENT below here in the BLOG. Then paste the URL. THEN,
   explain in one sentence (or more) why you think this has to do with the CONSTITUTION. I've 
   already added my example.

    It is the White House spokesman Jay Carney explaining that the US Federal Courts plan to try the Boston Marathon bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, NOT as an enemy combatant, but as a US citizen. I chose this one because it shows the trust that the Office of the President has in the American rule of law. We expect that he deserves a fair trial and that he will receive a fair ruling. As an American citizen, he is guaranteed that right-- the right to a fair trial, as guaranteed by the fifth, sixth, and seventh amendments. Ideally, if found guilty, his punishment will not violate the eighth amendment-- the right to a punishment that is neither cruel nor unusual.
