The 13 Colonies into 3 REGIONS
 
LT 1. a. I can examine the regional characteristics of the original 13 colonies.

INSTRUCTIONS: In order to approach the learning target above, you will have to do the following things:
·      Be able to NAME the 13 colonies.
·      Be able to LOCATE the 13 colonies (on a map).
·      Be able to name the 3 colonial regions (and which states belong to which region) and locate them on a map.

TOOLS: Today, you need a pencil and three highlighters or markers.

MAPPING the COLONIES:
1. Label the 13 colonies in the correct place, using THIS RESOURCE.

2. Locate the following colonial cities and map them on your map: Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Richmond, Wilmington (NC), Charleston (SC), and Savannah. Label them with a DOT. Use THIS RESOURCE.

3. Highlight the three colonies and then create a KEY in the box provided on your paper for your MAP.



 REFLECTING on the MAP:
1.     On the colonial regions map, what TREND do you notice about the location of the cities? What does that TREND mean about each colonies ECONOMY?




2.     Reflecting on what you CURRENTLY know, which of the following characteristics is true for WHICH colonial region? Circle the colony that you think this description fits best (guessing is still ok now).

2.  Due on MONDAY, be sure to bring your completed worksheet with QUALITY information. For YOUR region and your topic, complete research on the WWW.
